Teachers notes on Fundamentals of the Faith Lesson Four Holy Living

Holy Living

Once saved the bible is clear that an individual's life will change,
The change
Romans 6:6,12-14, Ephesians 4:22-24, 1st Peter 1:15-16

What does it mean?

Holy defined:
Properly, whole, entire, or perfect, in a moral sense. Hence, pure in heart, temper or dispositions; free from sin and sinful affections. Applied to the Supreme Being, holy signifies perfectly pure, immaculate and complete in moral character; and man is more or less holy, as his heart is more or less sanctified, or purified from evil dispositions. We call a man holy, when his heart is conformed in some degree to the image of God, and his life is regulated by the divine precepts. Hence, holy is used as nearly synonymous with good, pious, godly.

Holy living means

Separated from the world (not sinning)
Pure living- Proverbs 30:12
Clean living- Isaiah 64:6, 1st Corinthians 6:11
Apart from the world- 2nd Corinthians 6:14-18

Sanctified unto God (actively obeying God) Romans 1:1
Not just “not living for the world” but “living for God” Christians who try to not live for the world but refuse to surrender to living for God find themselves not living at all, and they quit.
We have been purchased
Living for God above yourself, Galatians 2:19-20, 1st Peter 2:24, Romans 14:8

Satisfied Hebrews 13:5
(being content in Christ) if you act like you need something other than God, (drugs, alcohol, popularity, relationships, etc) what does that tell the lost? What you need is more of Him

Holy living is separated, sanctified, and satisfied living
