Sermon Notes: To Whom Shall We Go

To whom shall we go?

John 6:65-69

There are many religions that claim to have the truth but what sets Christ apart?

1. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin as was prophesied in the book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 7:14    Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:18    Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

2. Jesus Christ did not commit sin

Sin=James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

2nd Corinthians 5:21    For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1st Peter 1:18    Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19    But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without          blemish and without spot:

3. Jesus Christ claimed to be God

If you do not believe that Christ was God then He was either insane or a liar because He Himself claimed deity

John 10:27-30 I and my father are one

4. Jesus Christ did many miracles

John 21:15

5. Christ died, defeated death and bodily rose from the dead

John 19:38-20:7

Luke 24:5-6 Why seek ye the living among the dead?

The folded napkin (spoken of in John 20) at a feast was a sign that the person who's napkin it was, was coming back to finish his meal.
Which brings us to

6. Jesus Christ promised to return and take those who put their faith in Him to Heaven.

1St Thessalonians 4:13    But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14    For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15    For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16    For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17    Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18    Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

My Christ is the real deal! He is coming back for me!
