Sermon Notes: What Satan Wants You To Think, What God Wants You To Know

What satan WANTS you to THINK and what God wants you to KNOW

3 things Satan wants the Christian to believe.

1. You can do no more for God than what you already do.

Satan puts into our hearts and minds the belief that because of whatever situation we may currently be in, we cannot serve any more than what we already do.
Keep in mind serving is not going to church, or reading your Bible, both of those things are gifts being given to you. Serving is witnessing to others about Christ’s gift of salvation.

Acts 16:16-34
God is ready to give you opportunities to serve Him but you must be Praying, seeking His face, and Repenting of your sins, in order to be used mightily of God.

(Psalm 105:4)  Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

2. God cannot or will not use you because of your past

While it is very true that a man can make himself unfit for Gods use through his sin, it is equally true and evident that no matter what sin a man has committed he can always be reconciled to God and become usable again.
Jonah 1:1
(Jon 1:1)  Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, (Jon 1:2)  Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
(Jon 1:3)  But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

• Jonah rejects Gods will for his life and flees from God.
• Jonah gets swallowed by the fish and then repents.

Jonah 3:1-5
(Jon 3:1)  And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, (Jon 3:2)  Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. (Jon 3:3)  So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.

(Jon 3:4)  And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

(Jon 3:5)  So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

After Jonah fell into sin he repented and then God used him to save a whole city!

3. I have never served God before (I didn't start young) so I cannot serve God now.

Acts 9:1-21

Saul is slaughtering Christians
Saul meets Christ
Christ gives Saul instruction
Saul obeys
The people were amazed

4 things Satan wants the unbeliever to think.

The Bible is not inspired by God and cannot be understood.
(1st Corinthians 14:33 God is not the author of confusion.)

God’s word is under attack and multiple versions breed confusion.

The bible says that only a Christian will understand Gods word.

(1Corinthians 2:14)  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

(2Corinthians 4:3)  But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

The Bible isn’t supposed to just be easily read in fact we are never told to READ the Bible only to STUDY it
2nd Timothy 2:15

2. You are good enough on your own and…
3. You can get to Heaven through works or some way other than faith.

(James 4:17)  Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:8-9
John 14:6 I am the way

4. There is no real Hell or sin penalty

Romans 6:23 wages of sin
Hebrews 9:27 once death then judgment
Luke 16:19-31
Not a parable
Everlasting torment
