Righteous vs Evil
Memory Verse: Proverbs 15:29 “The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.”
Who is righteous?
Romans 6:23, 3:23
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
When compared to God who is righteous above all others, we are as filthy rags, our job is to cleanse the world through preaching and teaching Gods word, Matthew 28:18-20 but a filthy rag does not cleanse, it cannot do its job….nothing but Christ can make a man right. John 14:6
Man cannot stand righteous before God without Christ.
This is why Christ had to die for our sins, we could never become right on our own.
How do we gauge what is and is not right? How do we tell right from wrong?
Psalm119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
God’s relationship with the righteous.
Proverbs 3:32,10:3,15:29,18:10
God communicates with, illuminates, provides for, and protects the Righteous.
Gods relationship with evil in…
Blessings: 3:33, 12:2, 10:27
Provision: 10:3
Religion: 15:8-9
Thoughts: 15:26
Prayer: 15:29
Purpose: 16:4
What about the man in the middle?
Can I be righteous and not condemn evil?
Those who say that we should be righteous but only when it does not offend those who are not, homosexuality, abortion, drinking, drugs, fornication, divorce, etc.
Proverbs 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
NEVER stand in the middle or on the side of the wicked to chastise the righteous, God is on the side of the righteous

Week 3
Bible Study Obedient vs. Disobedient
Proverbs 13:1 A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
Obedience is not slavery, it is not negative, it is the way to peace and prosperity under God.
In a house where there is no obedience whether it be children disobeying parents, wives disobeying husbands, or men disobeying God whenever the biblical standard of obedience is absent there is chaos.
Who should we obey?
(Parents, Teachers, Pastors, etc)
Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
The only time it is better to disobey a man with a rightful rule over you, (parent, boss, etc)
Gal 1:10
What used to happen to disobedient children
(Deuteronomy 21:18-21)
Gods promise to the disobedient son.
Proverbs 30:17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
By living a lifestyle of disobedience you submit yourself to obey sin, and Satan.
Eve obeyed Satan’s will by disobeying God. Genesis 3
David obeyed Satan’s will by disobeying Gods command not to commit adultery. 2nd Samuel 11
Jonah (Initially) Obeyed Satan’s will by running from God. Jonah 1
Satan’s will is for YOU to disobey! If he can’t get you to disobey God, he will get you to disobey your parents, if he cant get you to disobey your parents he will get you to disobey your boss, pastor, teacher etc. Disobedience is SIN, and its Satan’s will for you to do so, so when you disobey God you obey Satan.
Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
We pretend that disobedience is not a “big sin” God calls us to serve Him and we ignore it and think nothing of it. There isn’t much that’s worse than disobedience, it leads to Hell, by not obeying the urging of the Holy Ghost, it leads to hurt when we disobey our parents, and it leads to separation from fellowship with God by ignoring His word, so is it a light thing?
Ezekiel 8:17-18
Obedience in mind not just in outward action and appearance
It is easier to have a disobedient heart than a disobedient mouth.
2nd Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
The promise to those who obey God
Jeremiah 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

Week 4 Study: The Diligent Vs the Slothful
S.S.S.
Are you slothful or diligent?
You may believe that you are not slothful based on your past works, your former prayer life, and the way you used to serve God with a glad heart, but do you still live for God both externally (Works) and internally (Prayer, and PERSONAL study of His Word)
Just because you are diligent to DO something thing does not mean that you ARE a diligent person.
Are we commanded to not be slothful by Gods word?
Hebrews 6:9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
(Heb 6:10) For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
(Heb 6:11) And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
(Heb 6:12) That ye BE NOT slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Parable of the slothful servant:
Matthew 25:14-30
The slothful and the lion: Proverbs 22:13
The vineyard of the slothful: Proverbs 24:30-32
Always learn from the experiences, actions, and lives of others, like those you met while giving out scripture ate the U of M, and Tigers games
A description of the slothful: Proverbs 26:14-16
Ever know a person who can watch professional sports and always somehow be smarter that those playing, “What a moron he should have ran THAT play”
Ever try to explain to a sluggard that, that is the reason you don’t trust him to do something? Always an excuse or reason but the job never gets done. (Like Brother Gould’s character in the Christmas play) Like Proverbs 26:16 the sluggard is wise in his own conceits.
More descriptions of the slothful: Proverbs 19:24, 18:9, 15:19, 12:27, 12:24, 20:4
One of the worst attributes of the slothful man is that he is unreliable both to men and God.
Proverbs 10:26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
Warning from Solomon on slothfulness
Proverbs 24:33-34
(Pro 24:33) Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
(Pro 24:34) So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
What can the slothful do?
Proverbs 6:4-9
Diligence:
A Pastor/Youth Pastors verse on diligence
Proverbs 27:23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
The reward of diligence
Proverbs 22:29, 13:4, 10:4
What you want said about you.
Romans 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
The most important area of diligence
Joshua 22:5
“But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
So what we can see from Gods word about the sloth is…Get out of bed, off the couch, or out of the chair and serve God!

Humble vs. Proud
“At the moment you think yourself to be a humble person, you no longer are” – Pastor Adam Summers
Pride is one of the most dangerous sins in the world today, it was the sin that Lucifer first committed in Heaven and today it is a sin that produces more sin. Anger, Offence, strife, false teachings, jealousies, etc, almost always stem from pride.
What is Humility?
Humility is the precursor to all blessings, revivals, and growth.
2nd Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
1st Humility, 2nd Prayer, 3rd Seek God, 4th Repentance, Final-Blessing
Very similar to the plan of salvation
Verses on Humility:
Psalm 10:17- God will hear the prayers of the humble
Proverbs 16:19- Poor and Humble is greater than rich and proud
Proverbs 29:23- What pride and humility bring
Christ’s teachings on Humility
Matthew 18:1-4 Matthew 23:12
The Epistles on Humility
James 4:6,10 1st Peter 5:5-6
Humility leads to exaltation from God. Far better is it to be exalted BY God as a result of our humble spirit than to attempt to exalt ourselves through pride for vain glory.
Verses on the PROUD:
Psalm 12:3, 31:23, 101:5, 119:21, 119:78, 138:6
Psalm 40:4
The word Respecteth means “To look at or abide with”
Proverbs 15:25, 28:25, 16:5

Honesty vs. False Witness
What is it to be an honest person?
How often must you be honest in order to maintain your testimony of honesty?
Is honesty always the best policy?
Definition: Honest- The word Honest in the Bible often means more than just truthful, in fact the word honest is never described using the word truthful. Honest means morally and literally good, meet, well, honorable.
So knowing that an honest man is not just one who speaks truth but one who acts morally good and honorable let’s see what the Bible has to say about it.
Acts 6:3 An Honest report is vital to serving God
2nd Corinthians 13:7 A command to live honestly
1st Peter 2:11-12 The outreach of Honesty
Phillipians 4:8
Honest things are things to dwell on
What do we fill our minds up with everyday? What kind of things do we dwell on or think about often? Are they things that are honest? Morally good and honorable? Or do they tend to be more vain than we realize? Does he like me? Does she like me? What will I eat for lunch? What should I wear to school? What new this or that do I want? IT DOESN’T MATTER, SOULS MATTER!
False Witness
As seen throughout history from the stoning of Stephen to modern day martyrs in China, Iran, and around the globe, when a Christian lives honestly and is therefore blameless even in the sight of men having done no wrong, the enemy is forced to turn to False Witnesses to make unfounded claims against the Christian.
Acts 6:8-15 There is often a fragment of truth twisted into every lie
Exodus 20:16 The 9th Commandment
Deuteronomy 19:15-21 The old way
Proverbs 6:16-19 Things God HATES
Proverbs 12:17, 14:5, 19:5, 19:9, 21:28
Proverbs 25:18
A false witness described
If a false witness is described as three different weapons, whose weapons are they?
The devil can use a false witness within a body of believers to destroy Gods work, dampen the believer’s moral, and deteriorate the Christians faith.
Mark 14:55-72
The need for witnesses who were false
The false witnesses problem
The response to the false witness

Matthew 15:17-20 The source
Why we bear false witness, a need for acceptance, a hatred for the accused, for our own vain glory.

Wealth vs. Debt
Wealth is not bad in and of itself 1st Timothy 6:6-12
The problem is greed
The choice is clear that wisdom is better than wealth
2nd Chronicles 1:7-12
Physical Wealth
Psalm 49:5-7 wealth cannot redeem

Psalm 112:1-3 the truly wealthy man
Christ's Teachings on Wealth
Matthew 19:16-25
Matthew 6:19-21
Debt
Monetary Debt is never good
Romans 13:8
2Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
2Th 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
2Th 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
2Th 3:14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
The greatest debt
The greatest debt ever owed is the debt of our sins against a righteous and holy God, a debt that could only be paid for by a perfect sacrifice, Jesus Christ did that for us

Anger
Psalm 145:8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
What we should know about anger
It can be avoided or produced by our words.
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
It can be avoided or produced by our attitudes
Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
The power to have control over your emotions is greater than power over others.
Proverbs 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Gods anger is a result of our behavior
Psalm 78:32-42
Define: Anger
1. A violent passion of the mind excited by a real or supposed injury; usually accompanied with a propensity to take vengeance, or to obtain satisfaction from the offending party. This passion however varies in degrees of violence, and in ingenuous minds, may be attended only with a desire to reprove or chide the offender.
Anger is also excited by an injury offered to a relation, friend or party to which one is attached; and some degrees of it may be excited by cruelty, injustice or oppression offered to those with whom one has no immediate connection, or even to the community of which one is a member. Nor is it unusual to see something of this passion roused by gross absurdities in others, especially in controversy or discussion. Anger may be inflamed till it rises to rage and a temporary delirium.
Wrath:
Violent anger; vehement exasperation; indignation.
Does God still get angry?
Numbers 11:1
But this is Old Testament, this is Isreal, this doesn't pertain to us now.....really?
God is still angered by disobedience and sin (Malachi 3:6 "I change not")
Thankfully for us we are now under grace as the children of God.
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
God's anger: Provoked by our sinful lives
Gods anger is righteous and produces right judgment against sin and unrighteousness, His anger is to be feared by His enemies and reverenced by His children. God will often chastise His children as a father, Hebrews 12:5-8 but this is not an act of anger or wrath.
Mans anger: often provoked against the righteous judgment of Gods word.
Mans anger should be
1. Not a surprise to a Christian 1st John 3:13
2. Not offensive to a Christian Luke 6:22-23
3. Never justly brought against a Christian Romans 12:18
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

The Tongue
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
(Only thing in Gods word that is called an UNRULY EVIL)
The tongue is not always an instrument of evil.

Psalm 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalm 127:4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Psalm 127:5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
Types of Children
Many types of children can be invented, whiny, destructive, loud, smelly, mean, wonderful, respectful, ect, but all can be placed into one of two types.
Disobedient
Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Ezekiel 8:17-18
Obedience in mind not just in outward action and appearance.
It is easier to have a disobedient heart than a disobedient mouth.
2nd Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Obedient
The promise to those who obey God
Jeremiah 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
Colossians 3:20 ALL means everything.
Children of Satan are defined as AntiChrist
There are many millions of "good people" in this world, those who have done wonderful things and are kind, giving, understanding, caring, etc. But we know that a mans works do not save him (Ephesians 2:8-9) only faith in Christ saves (John 14:6).
We know that there are two spiritual fathers, God and Satan the children of satan are not only those who worship him by blood sacrifice at an altar.
1st John 4:3-6, 1st John 2:22-23
He is antichrist!
Children of God are (or should be) defined by
Holy living
God wants us to live pure and Holy lives, being obedient to His word.
God says.
1st Peter 1:13-16 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1st Corinthians 6:19-20
Witnessing
Many people say that things like street preaching, passing out the gospel, and being a public witness for Christ are pointless, many believe that unless you see profit (even spiritually) it isn't worth doing.
Gods word says.
1st Corinthians 1:18,21
Luke 24:46-48 Christ explains why He lived died and rose again, so we could preach His gospel! And YE are witnesses!
We should not be witnesses because we're told to, because its profitable, or because its fun. Even if not a single person accepts Christ as a result of our witness we should still do it because it PLEASES GOD!
As a child we must find out what pleases and helps our parents and DO IT NO MATTER THE COST OR SUPPOSED INCONVENIENCE TO OURSELVES
Virtuous Woman
Family School at Faith Baptist
S.S.S. Study Week 12
Proverbs 14:1, “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”
Webster’s 1828 Definitions: Virtuous: Morally good; acting in conformity to the moral law; practicing the moral duties, and abstaining from vice; chaste.
Chaste: undefiled; free from obscenity; pure; genuine; uncorrupt.
Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:10-31
She
Fears God
Is trustworthy
Does good for her husband
Willingly works
Wakes up early
Feeds the family
Smart with money
Strong
Giving
A good mother
Speaks wisdom and kindness
This is the kind of woman God wants to serve Him
Elaine Rogers went with her husband to Mexico to be missionaries and stayed there for over 30 years, and now even after her husbands death she has returned to the field to continue the work.
There are many types of women in the bible.
Which one are you?
An odious woman
Proverbs 30:23
The strange woman
Proverbs 5:3-8, Proverbs 6:20-26
While virtuous women have been the backbone of many great men of God, evil, strange, whorish and unbelieving women have been the downfall of countless men of God.
Strive to be virtuous, then...
Don't be a silly, immature girl
2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
God doesn't want ditsy girls He wants virtuous women who can serve Him properly
2. Have no boundaries.... Or rather no need of them
1st Corinthians 7:1-2
Are you married? Then stay away! Why so strict
"Boundaries in dating is like stepping into a whirlpool the further in you go the faster you go till there's no going back." Steve Lynn
Virtue and purity go hand in hand, they rely on each other to be strong themselves, your virtue is hard to recover, and purity once lost is NEVER retrieved.
3. NEVER date an unbeliever
Why, isn't that mean? 2nd Corinthians 6:14-18
Your walk with God should be such that a guy who doesn't believe what you believe isn't even interested, you wouldn't date a vegan if your a hunter, you wouldn't date a Ohio state fan if your a Michigan fan.....so why would a child of God date a child of the devil?
That's mean no that's bible.
Measure yourself (girls) or a girl (guys) up to the standards of Gods word, is she
A believer 2. Pure 3. Virtuous
