Sermon Notes: Are you Saved?

Are you saved?

Today so many people are misled by so many false doctrines concerning salvation, and how to get to Heaven. Let's look at why, and how, and what the truth really is.

Why the deception? 

Isaiah 14:12-14, Satan made himself the enemy of God, why does that effect us?

Genesis 1:26, God created us in His image (remember we were created sinless, satan ruined that in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve), 

2. God loves us John 3:16, and wants to see all men saved 2nd Peter 3:9.

Remember the devil hates God, but the devil cannot defeat God so instead he goes about seeking to destroy the thing God loves. Remember John 3:16?

How does the devil work? Simple look at Genesis 3:1-6 the fall of man.

Sneaky-vs 1, also 2nd Corinthians 11:13-15

Casts doubt on Gods word-vs 4, Notice all the new "versions" of the bible? 1st Corinthians 14:33

Promotes self-vs 5, notice the "Christian" SELF help books, humanism in schools, Matthew 16:24

Now we know why the devil hates us, we also know that his tactics are subtle and often appear righteous, with an enemy like that how can we know truth from error? Psalm 119:9, the King James Bible is the ONLY English bible made from the translation of writings found at Antioch (where the first church was) ALL others were translated from writings found in Alexandria Egypt, ONLY the kjv has no copyright/royalties, ALL others made the publishers millions.

Ok, now that we know the enemy, the tactics, and what to follow as our guide, let's use that guide to see how to truly be saved.

People believe:

1. A knowledge of Jesus and what He did or said will save them, 

Herod knew about Him and tried to kill Him, the Pharisees saw what He did and Heard Him teach and still rejected Him. KNOWLEDGE ISNT ENOUGH!

2. I was baptized so I am going to heaven, 

Acts 8:35-39, almost all "versions" of the bible completely exclude vs 37, notice, belief was first, they were IN the water, the man KNEW what he was doing.

Luke 23:43, this man had no ability to be baptized yet Christ Himself said he was saved

3. Giving money,

Acts 8:18-22 Simon the sorcerer, rebuked for offering money for Gods power

4. Praying to saints,

1st Timothy 2:5, Jesus is the only one who can mediate between us and God, He was the only one to be both God and Man. Praying to anyone but God is always IDOLATRY!

5. Doing good deeds,

Romans 3:23/6:23, no one can do enough "good deeds" to be as "good" as God is!

6. I made a Profession of faith and the preacher said...

2nd Corinthians 5:17, this doesn't mean that we will never do wrong again, but we will have a desire and passion to serve God! Old friends, old sins we will get rid of and seek truth! You can shout "I'm saved" all day and be lost in darkness.

7. Works (sacraments, church attendance, door knocking, communion, confessions, etc, etc, etc...

Ephesians 2:8-9, anyone who adds any action deed or requirement to salvation is a false prophet!

So what does the Bible say about how to be saved?- John 14:6

Step by step

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 10:9-13 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.[10]    For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.[11]    For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.[12]    For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.[13]    For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"

John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.[17]    For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.[18]    He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

John 10:27-30 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:[28]    And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.[29]    My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.[30]    I and my Father are one."

John 20:31"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."

The question today is, have you accepted the free gift? 

Are you trusting in something that will NOT get you to heaven?

No person, no idea, no embarrassment is worth going to Hell/lake of fire for all eternity.

Let go of the false Profession and put your faith in Jesus Christ right now
