Who is this?
In Matthew 21:10 we read, "And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?"
Today many people, denominations, factions, and whole religions have altered the truth about who Jesus Christ is, today I want to help you see very simply what Gods word says about Jesus Christ.
1. Jesus is God
In Luke 5:17-26 we find an account of Jesus forgiving a man and healing him.
In verse 21 we read "And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?"
What those scribes and Pharisees failed to realize is that they answered their own question, Jesus Christ is God!
1st John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
John 1:1-3,
1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
Jesus Christ The Word was and is God, He is God the son.
2. Jesus is creator
We also see from verse 3 that He was active in creating the world, so we now know that Jesus Christ is God the Son, and took part in creation.
3. Jesus is the sinless sacrifice
All the way from the garden of Eden when God killed an animal to make coverings for Adam and Eve the shedding of innocent blood has been required for remission or payment of sin.
Because we have all sinned we cannot present God a sacrifice that would be sufficient for our own account, let alone the sin debt of all the earth for all time, so God required a sinless sacrifice to wipe our slates clean. The offering of animals would only atone for a little while but this perfect lamb of God would cover the sins of all who would trust in Him
Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
Romans 5:9 "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
2nd Corinthians 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
Jesus Christ is God the Son
Jesus Christ is creator
Jesus Christ is the sinless sacrifice
Jesus Christ is the only way
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
John 10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Acts 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
Jesus Christ is the only way to be forgiven,
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:9 "Not of works, lest any man should boast."
So we know that Jesus Christ is,
God the Son
Creator
The Sinless Sacrifice
The Only Way
Lastly one thing that many people like to forget is that Jesus Christ is judge.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
Luke 13:24 "Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Luke 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Luke 13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
Luke 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
Luke 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out."
You may fool your family, your preacher and even yourself into believing that your a true Christian, but you will not fool Jesus Christ, He knows if you have faith in Him, He knows if you have believed in Him, and He will judge accordingly.
James 5:9 "Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door."
Do you believe in who Jesus Christ is? Or do you believe He is just a man, just a savior of all, He is savior of all but He is also judge, He will plead your case if your saved or say "depart" if you have not trusted in Him.
