S.S.S. Study Conduct of the church week 3

S.S.S. Study The Conduct of the Church
Family School at Faith Baptist Church
Week 3: In unity with one another

Ephesians 4:32    "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

Christ's church is very unique, where else can you find doctors enjoying fellowship with carpenters, lawyers with plumbers, cops with ex cons, in the body of Christ it matters very little what your secular occupation, or even political opinion may be, what matters is that which brings men together in unity, Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:3-5 Some of the biggest obstacle to a unified church are, respect of persons, (race, wealth, personalities, etc) and an unwillingness to follow others who are following Christ.

Why strive for unity?-
1st Corinthians 1:10-13 A people without unity get little done.
Mark 3:25 A divided house cannot stand.
1st Peter 3:8-9 We are commanded to be in unity.
Proverbs 6:16-19 God hates and views as an abomination, those who sow discord among the brethren.
How?
Salvation- Romans 8:9
Right focus- Philippians 4:8, 2nd Corinthians 4:5, John 3:30
Humility- Romans 12:3 (Biblical humility is not just thinking little of self, but is also continually looking to hold up another.)
Understanding- 1st Corinthians 12:11-27, 1st Thessalonians 5:13
Effort- Ephesians 4:32

Matthew 16:18, This is, through preaching, witnessing, teaching, and right living, essentially the job of the church, to attack Hell and win back souls from its gates! What a victory it is for one soul to be saved! Many more victories are won by the team, than by the individual.

Jesus Christ Himself prayed the Father that we (you and I) might have unity!
John 17:21    That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Why: Because as was stated at the beginning, Christ's church is a unique thing! Seeing so many different people in unity, through Christ, striving towards a goal together is one of the most  undeniable proofs to a lost soul that, there must be something different about those people!
With unity THROUGH CHRIST, we are able to, get more done, show less hypocrisy, help each other up, and take on greater challenges for God.

Psalm 133:1 "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"
